Storm & Weather Watch

The City of Patterson has a Plan

The City of Patterson has a plan in place to prepare for any major storm that is expected to hit Northern California.  Heavy rain and powerful gusts of wind can cause widespread power outages, downed trees and branches, and moderate flooding.

During storm events, community members are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel, drive with caution at moderate speeds, watch for fallen tree branches and limbs, and make sure not to drive over any fallen power lines.

The City of Patterson's Tips for Residents

The City of Patterson is always concerned about public safety during storm events.  The following safety precautions are recommended to lessen the impacts during storm events:

Clear leaves and debris from the street and sidewalk in front of your homes or businesses to prevent flooding. Place leaves on your lawn or in your greenwaste can (green-colored Toter) until your anticipated pick-up day or until further notice due to weather conditions.

Contact the Public Works Department at (209) 895-8060 to report downed trees or flooding. During evenings and weekends, please dial the non-emergency line at (209) 895-8000 and press 9.

Call 9-1-1 to report life threatening emergencies or situations involving serious injuries.

Do not approach down utility lines; assume they are always energized.

For information on power outages, you may contact Turlock Irrigation District (TID) at (209) 883-8222.

All drivers need to treat signalized intersections as four-way stops if the power is out.

If you are in a minor collision, and you are able, pull to the side of the roadway to prevent any additional collisions, damage, or injury.

Stay away from flooded parking lots, parks and retention ponds. They may be drowning hazards.  Basins holding water are doing what they are designed to do.

Have sand bags ready if your property tends to flood. Sand bags are available at the Public Works Corporation Yard at 16215 Baldwin Road. Sand bags are available for Patterson residents.

Establish a home emergency plan. Visit Ready.Gov for more information.
